Catch and Hold Consulting, based in New York City and founded by social media and web content brand strategist Francie Grace, is grounded in many years of expertise in catching the attention of audiences, listening to their interests and concerns, and holding their attention by engaging with them on subjects which are deeply felt or otherwise have strong resonance.
Francie has launched numerous social media brands, nearly all to high levels of influence, including the public policy-focused @PublicAgenda, @Planet_Forward and @TheEnergyBook and the newly-sprouted Twitter-based vegetarian lifestyle community @TurnTurnTurnip.
A big believer in the revolutionary nature of social media, in that it allows anyone to speak to, and possibly engage with, the most influential voices of our time, Francie was among those chosen to be at the White House Tweetup for the 2012 State of the Union address.
Previous to launching Catch & Hold Consulting in 2011, Francie was VP and Managing Editor/Director of Social Media at the nonpartisan public opinion research and public engagement organization Public Agenda. Managing content, strategy and design for several websites and numerous social media platforms including Facebook and YouTube, Francie built five Twitter feeds from the ground up, achieving a robust combined TweetReach rating and high Twitter.Grader influence ratings for each feed. The flagship feed @PublicAgenda, rated in the top 1 percent, has over 10,000 followers and is represented on 520 Twitter lists (user-created, topic-specific directories to the best content on Twitter).
Francie also conducted social media listening and mapping campaigns for other organizations, resulting in recommendations shaping social media strategy.
Francie led the digitization, illustration, and SEO makeover of the extensive back catalogue of PublicAgenda.org’s public opinion research; publication of reports on the Kindle; creation of community-building Twitter display boxes showing tweets from all over on specific public policy issues; the integration of YouTube into discussion guides and reports; and improved cross-promotion of the organization’s initiatives across its web sites, social media platforms, news releases, e-mail alerts, and off-line communications.
An award-winning journalist, writer, and artist, Francie has written about just about everything and believes strongly that there is no story, from public policy to commerce, that can’t be told both well and well within the character limit of whatever format is at hand. She has spoken on social media at the State of Now #140 Characters Conference and the New York Press Club Journalism Conference, keeps up with the latest trends at the MIT Enterprise Forum, and is also following the developments in health care reform and Gov2.0, two arenas greatly impacted and empowered by the latest developments in social and web media.
Francie is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Writers Guild, the New York Press Club, where she served on the board of governors, and the Deadline Club, and has been an awards judge for all four organizations. She has done op-ed pieces for New York Newsday, the New York Post, CBS2NY.com and was the editor and a contributing author of a report to Congress on the global competitiveness of the U.S. securities and commodities exchanges. Other credits: former producer, editor, writer and artist for CBSNews.com; editor, writer and producer for the CBS Radio Network and 1010 WINS Radio; and editor and reporter for daily newspapers in Pennsylvania, where she started with a 28-mile-a-day paper route.
